Ace Hotel

The Idea

Hotel photography and social content almost always sells the room. The made bed, the empty suite, the light through a window nobody is standing at. It shows you where you'd stay. It doesn't show you who you'd be there.

I wanted to treat the hotel as a space for intention, creativity and becoming. Not the room, but the person in it: quiet moments, movement, lived-in details, the in-between; between meetings, between mornings, in the pause.

The timing was part of the idea. We released in January, during vision-board season, when people are actively deciding who they're going to be that year. That framing puts Ace Hotel somewhere specific — a place where goals aren't just imagined, but lived.

The Work

This one was mine. I built the concept and pitched it to Ace, and they approved it.

Stills and short-form video, built to hold one visual language across both. Texture, light and restraint; the imagery made to sit inside the brand's existing world rather than next to it, so the stills and the motion read as one editorial narrative instead of two deliverables from the same shoot day.

The Result

The work ran on LinkedIn, and the response came from outside the project — people calling it unusual for the category while still unmistakably Ace. That was the brief I set myself. Making something new is not hard; making something new that a brand can still recognise as itself is the part that takes work.
